Rapuso II!

You stand before the gaping maw that is the entrance to the Rage Pits. Behind you, Caldera's winds swirl up a powerful storm of sand- there's no turning back now. The room you are currently in is wide open, sporting little more than the molding on the crowns of the pillars. To your left, there is an open door that leads to what might be a corridor of sorts. To your right, the wall is covered in a sort of board; numerous messages are scattered across it. Ahead, there are two closed doors.

i walk over to the board and read the messages.

You see quite a few scrawled notes, mostly illegible. There are one or two, however, that can be read. One is quite straight and unmarred, bearing the stamp of the King. It reads:
"HEROES!
Your TIME has COME!
ENTER the RAGE PITS and claim my DAUGHTER'S HAND
in HOLY MATRIMONY!
MANY have TRIED: NONE HAVE SUCCEEDED!"

The second one is a scratched-out piece of leather hide. If the owner had any education, it is not obvious. the note reads simply this: "Can't make it. Go to left room. Pull chain. Don't fall for it..." At this point, the writing falls off the page. The lower half is soaked in blood, and you notice that it trails down to the floor.

I stride forward and examine the two closed doors at the northeast corner of the room
(im guessing its set up so that the top is north)

The doors are bolted shut, each with a padlock. The one on the right seems to be much cleaner and well-used in comparison to the one in front of you. Neither appears to be rotted or cracked; in fact, lock aside, they both look as if they are regularly maintained.

i spray the lock in front of me with a burst of fire to melt away the lock.

You attempt to fling the mystic fire, but you cannot seem to remember the words to it at this moment. Instead, a couple of droplets of fire drip from your fingers. Perhaps there's a better way?

I examine the floor around me, looking for a key or pissible lock pick

The floor is barren, and the doors are sealed tight. Even with a mightier fighter around, you doubt you could force the door.

seeing no point in continueing this nonsense, i travel to the opposite corner and examine the room behind the open door.

The room is not a room, but rather a corridor. At the end is another closed door, which seems to be locked from the inside. However, two levers- one left, one right- are affixed to the walls.

I examine both levers, taking note of every minor detail.

Both levers appear to be identical, except one is tinted red; the other a deep emerald. Each is pointed directly up, and appears to only have one other setting: down. The door appears to have no handle; this is surely somehow related to the levers. There is no visible mechanism, but the levers are free of rust, seeming to invite you to use them.

i push them both down simultaniously and stand ready to enact any manuver of defence.

There is a loud churning of gears long-forgotten, and the hallways vibrates. Sand descends in droves as the noise rattles the very stones of the cavern.

However, nothing seems to have happened.

I lift the lever to my right.

Again, there is a great commotion as the gears turn, unseen, in their stony cages. More dust settles from the ceiling.

This time, there is a loud crash from the main foyer.

i lift the other lever...(happy?)

As you lift the other lever, you notice it's substantially harder to move. However, hefting it up, you hear more grinding and crashing from the other room. It sounds like everything is reset.

"AW POOEY!!!" i say. i pull the other switch down and wait.

There is once more a crash from the other room. The gears seem to be turning faster now, and you quickly hear them settle.

i run into the other room and look for changes

You immediately see the floor has changed. There is now a massive, gaping hole. However, you note that there has been no destruction, for there is no rubble. Instead, it is a clean-cut hole. From the torchlight, you can see down into it. Perhaps ten feet down is another platform. A small path runs off of it, into the darkness.

i hop down onto the platform and tracel along the new path

Landing hard, you feel like you hit something on the way down. After a few moments, you feel better, however. The path ahead is dark, and you cannot see more than three meters along it. There is a scroll on the floor.

i pick up the scroll and read it.

The scroll is laden with Elven characters, with the occasional symbol for fire. You immediately recognize it as a scroll of Dazzling Ray. This will save you from needing to cast it once. But this one seems to be augmented slightly- it doesn't appear to fade.

i continue down the corridore and try not to trip over anything.
